Bits from a comic in progress
Work from May
Hello everyone,
In May I worked every day on a comic called End of the Earth, about a 45 minutes walk I took in April. It’s disturbing that a 45 minute experience takes 45+ hours to distill into art. An ominous sign of work ahead.
The comic’s still not done but it’s getting there. There are no pages and and no panels. When finished, it will be made into a zine using the meander accordion fold.
And of course the goose. With this depiction of a goose, I was trying to depict a goose.
The experience of working on this comic has been gratifying. It’s taken a long time but I’ve been working on it consistently and persistently, which seems like an indication of the trend of my life as I age. I’m accepting that things take time. I’ve committed to this project although the subject matter isn’t deep or timely. Like martial arts and memorising poetry - useless things that commitment renders valuable.
Write me a letter, or just a sentence. Prompts: geese, breakfast, ageing, drinking (choose one or more).
-sage.

Aging is so relative that it’s almost impossible to discuss. We’re all aging but not nearly as noticeably as, say, a two year old - or a 90 year old who is ill. Tricky.
